An original, completely handmade linocut print which has been designed and printed in Devon, UK. Part of the Foraged & Found Collection, an ongoing series based on natural history, nostalgia and memory.

Clay pipes were first smoked in England in the 16th century, after the introduction of tobacco from Virginia. They were easily disposable, and the sheer abundance of pipes that get unearthed mean they are also one of the most important means of dating and interpreting archaeological deposits, as well as being a useful artefact of social and cultural history.

This clay pipe features a stylised fern leaf.

This print is a Limited Edition of 50, and each one is titled and signed by me. The design is printed onto beautiful and sustainable Nepalese Lokta (tree bark) paper, which has been hand-torn and so features four deckled edges.

DIMENSIONS:
Printed image size: 4.5" x 2"
Total size (incl. paper): 5" x 6" approx.
The print/s are unmounted.

Important: I cannot guarantee that your printed item will be the exact one shown in the example photographs in the shop. As everything is handmade, there will inevitably be some slight variations with each printing; likewise coloured prints with hand-mixed inks may vary slightly in pigment between batches. This is all part of the charm and uniqueness of your purchase, as no two items will be exactly the same! If the paper has been cut or torn by hand, please also expect very minor differences in size.
